Eight schools in Capiz and Iloilo will soon get much-needed repairs after confirming budget allocations from the Department of Education (DepEd).
Oliver Hernandez, chief of DepEd’s Physical Facilities and Schools Engineering Division, said in an email that funds have been set aside for two schools in Mambusao, Capiz and six schools in Calinog and Guimbal towns in Iloilo.
The department took action after Check My School reported feedback from the schools. This prompted the Physical Facilities and Schools Engineering Division to verify the funds needed for each school’s repair needs.
All eight schools will get support from the Basic Educational Facilities Funds or BEFF. According to DepEd, the BEFF is meant to address shortages on classroom, water and sanitation facilities, and furniture “based on the Basic Education Information System, the repair and rehabilitation of classrooms, including heritage buildings and water and sanitation facilities.”
The first batch, which will receive funds in 2012, includes:
Burias Elementary School in Mambusao, Capiz.
Nanga Elementary School in Guimbal, Iloilo.
Malitbog National High School in Calinog, Iloilo.
In 2013, the following schools will get aid from the BEFF:
